Sassi Punnu is a tragic love story from Sindhi and Balochi folklore, highlighting the themes of love, fate, and devotion. Sassi, a princess born to the king of Bhambore, is abandoned at birth due to a prophecy that she would bring dishonor to her family. A washerman finds and raises her. As Sassi grows, her beauty becomes famous, and Punnu, a Baloch prince, hears about her and falls in love. He travels to Bhambore and wins Sassi’s heart. Sassi’s father agrees to their marriage, but Punnu’s brothers disapprove. On the wedding night, they drug Punnu and take him back to their homeland. When Sassi wakes and finds Punnu gone, she embarks on a perilous journey through the desert to find him. Exhausted and heartbroken, she collapses and dies. Punnu, upon learning of her fate, also dies beside her.
